The Lego Group is cementing its position with the inception of a second Legoland theme park to be built in Sanya China, famous as a holidy destination for its pristine beach fronts and resorts. It is not suprising given that in the 1H18, Lego disclosed thay China was growing double digit growth in terms of sales revenue outshining its other more matured markets. On 6 Sep 2018 in Beijing, Merlin Entertainment Groups and China Media Capital finally ironed out all details and signed a deal with China’s local government. Construction of the theme park is expected to begin in 2020 with a targeted opening in 2022. This comes after the Shanghai Legoland expected to be completed around 2020 and comes in along with Legoland Malaysia, Japan and Korea Legoland theme parks in Asia.
